Razor Barbed Tape Wire

Razor wire is a mesh of metal strips with sharp corners. Its purpose is to prevent passage by humans.

The points are very sharp and made to rip and grab onto flesh and clothing. Razor wire is used in many high-security applications because, although it can be evaded relatively quickly by humans with tools, penetrating a razor wire barrier without tools is very slow-pace and hard, giving security forces more time to respond.

It is centrally stranded with high tensile wire, and a steel tape punched into a shape with barbs.

For razor wire applications, stainless steel tape and stainless steel core wire is used.

The steel tape is coldly crimped to the wire. Razor wire is manufactured with a galvanized tape and Galvanized core wire with a coating of zinc.

Razor wire is available in two forms:

When the razor wire is used in concertina form, the coils diameter varies from three hundred mm to thousand mm.

Lower diameters generally have 3 clips per loop and higher diameters consist of 5 clips per loop.

We here at Om Engineering Works provides professional services straight from the designing stage, through manufacturing of high quality razor wire barriers and also assistance in onsite installations with an ever increasing and disturbing trend of undesirable curb.

Razor wire barriers find a greater application in Borders, Prisons, Airports, Defence and Government facilities, Nuclear Power plants and high security sites.
